There are several reasons to visit the open space dedicated to the works of Giovanna Cerise (one for each one of her works on display). artistic installation
The main reason, though, is the cultural and human fulfillment that gives being witness to a well-made art gallery.
In addition, the expressive power of Giovanna makes the experience even more intense, enveloping.
Giovanna is well known in the artistic ambiance, which makes any introduction unnecessary.
She is famous for her ability with artistic installation.
Despite this, for reasons of narrative completeness, I will try to introduce her Art to the not accustomed to artistic performances reader. (Also, I would love that art in S.Life was known and appreciated even outside the virtual scope).
Who is Giovanna Cerise
In R.Life Giovanna is a teacher of literature and music. This aspect in particular makes us understand that art, known and experienced in R.Life, is brought in the virtual environment probably because, now, art has become part of her way of being, her very identity.
Giovanna, the S.Life artist, has an extensive resume of exhibitions: to have the details of her performances, at the landing point of the Last Harbor you can click on the panel with the inscription “Giovanna Cerise Bio” to read an explanatory note card.
It is also possible to join the group of her admirers to stay current on the latest artistic initiatives. artistic installation
Among the main initiatives worthy of note, the artist’s collaboration with the UWA (University of Western Australia), that organizes, since many years, major artistic events in S.Life and has discovered many talents, including, to name another Italian artist, Mystero Hifeng.
Giovanna also took part in socially committed initiatives, including 2Lei, a major event against violence against women.
The Art of Giovanna
If I wanted to give a brief definition of the artistic work of Giovanna Cerise, (which, however, does not do justice to her work) I would say that it is “manipulation of prim“.
Giovanna, in fact, through the use of 3D programs useful to the creation of three-dimensional environments imported into S.Life, manipulates the forms.
NURBS, Splines, Boolean, are all used in her works exhibited at Last Harbor.
The experiment, the combination of forms, the dissection of a form to the other, all contribute to enrich the performance.
Giovanna also makes extensive use of human forms, both the full-length, is the face, often shown in profile and just mentioned.
A theme that seems to her loved one is, in fact, the identity of the subject-man.
An identity crisis (or evolution, if you prefer), typical of modern society.
A crisis of roles, a liquid society, where people interact each other in ways unknown to the last century.
We exchange information frantically with a large number of people, little is known of the people with whom we relate.
In addition to the communicative aspects, there are also more complex issues that shatter past certainties: the role of women, no longer defined, a super-woman who works, is the mother and self-manages undermines masculine identity , “strong”part in a relationship.
Furthermore, even the most conservative, should bring themselves to accept gay couples and any situation not complying with his standards.
We must get used to living with Muslim families, African, Indian, and with people living family roles in a radically different way from ours.
These issues undermine our identity making us brittle. Vulnerable.
This identity crisis, however, can also be seen as an important moment of transition: in fact roles are the result of the mind, do not exist in themselves.
We can live without them, in the most complete sense of our worth, intrinsic to human nature and independent from social conformity.
In the art of Giovanna, or at least in that part of art in which the theme is the identity, I see this basic message.
The human aspects are present in all the work of Giovanna, although expressed in many different ways to one another.
Interesting is to see how the artist develops the relational ratio (torque, but also another human relationship, such as friendship).
The main theme is the balance in human relationships: a balance that when takes a hit, must be restored, at the cost of changing oneself and adapt to new standards.
Rightly or wrongly, human relations thrive with balance and die when this is missing.
The need for balance arises from our identity, from the conviction of who we are, what we love, what we tolerate, our values etc.
In any work of Giovanna we see the development of a human subject on which we could discuss for hours and open up interesting debates.
My experience at the artistic show
was intense, this is why I chose to record a small, representative videos, just to give the reader a taste of the exhibit (which I urge to visit in person).
Giovanna Cerise, with this exhibition, is confirmed to be indisputable point of reference in the S.Life virtual planet, whose works deserve a proper appreciation even in R.Life. artistic installation
